![]() ![]() That way, you can encrypt the dropbox folder and cache folder, and the files are reasonably safe in the case of a lost laptop (since they can't be accessed unless someone goes through the trouble of cracking your user ID/password). On Windows 7, I was able to find a way to deal with this without third party software - there is something called EFS that let's you encrypt a single folder at a time, and the files are stored encrypted but automatically decrypted as needed, as long as you have logged in. I've been thinking about what would happen if someone found their laptops and started digging around in the drop box sync folders - all of the confidential info would be visible to anyone. A number of them use macs and have sensitive docs in the dropbox folders. Recently, folks I know have started using dropbox to sync data between their desktops, iPads, laptops, etc.
